In ghosts lore, a poltergeist (/ˈpoʊltərˌɡaɪst/ or /ˈpɒltərˌɡaɪst/; German for “noisy ghost” or “noisy spirit”) is a sort of ghost or entity this is responsible for physical disturbances, such as noises and things being moved or broken.
Claims about poltergeist, or fictional descriptions of the phenomen, display them as able to pinching, biting, hitting, and tripping human beings. Additionally, they are depicted as able move or levitate items including furniture and crockery, or noises like banging on doors.
They’ve historically been defined as mischievous spirits who possess a specific man or woman instead of a selected place.
Every culture has one version of the poltergeist phenomenon. Early claims of entities that allegedly harass and torture those who they pick upon hark back to the 1st century, but poltergeists mentions became more commonplace around the early 17th century.
