Ghost humor is a great way to stop taking your situation (if you’re haunted) seriously and change the mood.
From the deep depression that an ongoing ghost situation can produce in those suffering it, to the desperation when confronted with the unseen world for the first time, after having one’s very first paranormal experience.
The extraordinary events we experience come with a high possibility of triggering negative emotional states in us.
I’m not a parapsychologist, or a pseudo-scientific with a ridiculous certificate from the man, or a with a tacky diploma from a distance learning school, but just a regular guy that lived very unsettling uncommon experiences.
The level of morbidity and drama of a few of them was rather heavy and, even if the stories I was left with are cool, is not the kind of memories that I want to remember every day, or repeatedly, for that matter.
Just killing one’s ego in the search for the ghost stories, feelings, and whereabouts of others helps. It did help me.
We forget about ourselves and be it vicariously or carefully (with consideration for the one sharing it), when we get lost in the experiences of others, we just stop the loop of self-commiseration.
But it helps royally when we unplug completely from the serious stream of ghosts, demons, and haunts, and just see what the world of ghosts humor has in store to gratify us when we are done with the depressing parts of ghosts and haunting for a while.

Ghost Memes
Memes about ghosts and haunts can remind us that it’s fun and healthy to have a good laugh once in a while.
Ghost memes are generally about the tragicomic situations that sometimes emerge with dealing with real ghosts.
I know that you may approach this subject from a solemn stance, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t make fun of the subject; or that we don’t need such a thing. Anyway, I urge you to click the left arrow in your browser if you think any of the content on this page may offend you.
Creating Your own Ghosts Memes
You may have needed some basic knowledge about design and typesetting back in the day when memes started, but today it’s a snap to create a meme. There are many online meme generators. The one at the top of this section of the article was generated by the easy-to-find one at imgflip.
The Humor Effect of a Ghosts Meme
I think that the comic effect of a ghost meme is successful if the person creating it infused it with a good combination of elements.
I’m not an expert humorist, but from the one shown as an example on this page I can deduct:
- Appropriate image that reflects the idea more or less verbatim
- An image that satirizes the idea that one wants the meme to convey
- The irony, the more true the bare facts of the idea, the more place for irony
- Giving a new twist to a commonplace phrase
The Creep Factor of a Ghosts Meme
The humorous factor of memes, being what they are, a creep factor might be there, but they feel devoid of real power to even build a little dread, what to say of scaring you?
So, unless you’re nine years old, my conclusion is the creep factor of memes based on ghosts, urban legends, haunts, and similar are virtually null. Yes, I know that the meme I chose to give you an example is more hilarious than creepy, but what is the point of making a ghost meme if it’s not for laughing at it, right?
Ghost Comic Strips
If you publish a comic strip about ghosts you are invited to post or embed your comic strip in this section, as often as you would like.
If you do publish a comics strip that is either about ghosts or heavily involves ghosts or subjects and themes related to haunted houses, but you rather post a link to somewhere else where your strip is hosted, please do that.
Either way, let this community know about your ghosts-related comic strip on this section.
Other Ghosts Humor Media
“No, I already told you, you can’t have my blanket tonight!”
If you want to share any other humor media about ghosts like videos, audio, posters, poetry, or prose, this section of the website is for you. You can submit practically anything, but remember that things in this section have to be comical.
Tagging Your Content
Please don’t tag your submitted content pieces that are articles/stories with hashtags or any other tags like in the community areas of the website.
Tags for submitted content pages are generated automatically from the section’s name and the title of your article.
Categorizing Your Content
In this section categorize your submission as belonging to the True Ghost Stories category in the pull-down menu below.
Licensing Your Ghost Humor Items
Ghost Ship by Gwydion M. Williams
First off, if you’re going to share memes don’t give them a license, memes are meant to be used by anyone who wants and to duplicate indefinitely on the web.
That said, the licensing of your content service on this website is free, like all the other community features. You can license your ghost humor items with any of the Creative Commons licenses or you can simply copyright them (all rights reserved to you).
If you want to know what I would recommend, I would advise you to copyright it. You keep the full rights to the content and at the same time you grant this community the exclusivity of featuring it. This is just a suggestion, you’re free to license it any way you’d like to.
Otherwise, if it’s a comic strip or such thing, just post it on a syndication capacity and keep your rights 100%.
Giving Your Ghosts Humor Items CC Licenses
Public Domain Attribution (CC) Share-Alike (CC) Attribution-NoDerivs (CC) Copyright
Licensing your content with a license that allows others to re-use it has its benefits. Especially if you give the content an Attribution-NoDerivs license. You are sharing it, but without allowing those that want to re-use it to modify it in any way. For instance, if you plant two links to your website, social media profile, or wherever you would like your reader to go, then those re-using your content are bound by the license not to remove your links from the content.
Copyrighting Your Ghosts Humor Pieces
If you didn’t do this already, the way to tag your content with an ad-hoc copyright license is as follows:
At the bottom of your written content write a phrase similar to this one
All the written content of this article, photos, videos, and other media © [YOUR NAME HERE], [YEAR].
If you submit visual media, include some kind of watermark, or a little copyright notice somewhere as a graphical component of the visual content, like so:
To make your work copyrighted, I guess you already know, is to reserve all the rights to the work to yourself.
The copyright law states that just by placing your name on a document and adding the copyright symbol, or a c between parenthesis and/or the word Copyright, the item is automatically protected by the law, but we all know that sometimes is not enough.
There are several paid services to get a copyright certificate, but listing them is beyond the scope of this page. Moreover, buying a copyright license for a single story is not cost-effective, so the free method to make it copyrighted should suffice.

[pending]
I searched and searched, (and I will keep on searching) and I couldn’t find syndicated comics about ghosts. There are a lot of syndicated comic strips about other, less funny themes, but comic strips about ghosts are severely lacking.
When I did search for syndicated ghosts comics, the search engines I used (and I used more than a dozen of different ones), all took me to pages of commercial, mainstream comics about ghosts humor but for kids, like Timmy, The Timid Ghost, or Casper, The Friendly Ghost.
Because of that, IF YOU UPLOAD YOUR GHOSTS HUMOR COMIC STRIPS TO TRUE GHOSTS STORIES IT WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!
Even if you don’t write/illustrate in the strip format, even if your output is regular comic book ghosts humor comics, then at least tease us with a page or two of your ghost humor comics, please!
In the meantime I will keep searching, it can’t be that there isn’t a single syndicated comic that has a ghost or some ghosts as their protagonists. If after a few months I don’t come up with anything, I guess I will create a ghost humor comic strip myself.

TBT! I Ain’t Afraid of No Ghost by Phil Taylor
This is a very short ghost humor piece, 630 words only. It’s something you read in under five minutes. Yet this piece by Phil made me smile more than two times and laugh at least once.
Check out the way this website has of sharing the fun with others. It’s not ideal, but it’s a start.
This page has an example of a mediocre ghost joke. It wants to be a meme and a joke about ghosts but it’s neither. Notice how the picture doesn’t match the subject matter in the least. Also, this page has a code generator that generates code that anyone can embed in a page on her or his website, but since the code generator doesn’t allow to select the website’s category from which the joke would be pulled, it’s useless.
