Please read this mission statement carefully. At the bottom of the page, there is a suggestion box form in case you would like to suggest anything to implement in this community.
You’re not Expected to use the Social Features
But you are cordially invited to do so if you want to network with other people that are all about ghosts. Before getting into the reasons to be of this community, let’s get this clear. Even if you want to participate in a one-off way in this community, posting your experience, or your advertisement and never having to return to interact with the community, you’re cordially invited to do so.
You will notice that your experiences, on this site, are treated like something more important and deserving than a simple run-of-the-mill social media post; the content system for your ghost stories is separate from the main website’s community engine. This was implemented in this way to make your showcased ghost stories look great and stand out from the rest of the site.
You’re invited to Pitch Ideas for the Community
Things like features you would like to have for the website to do more for the community. Please refer to the form at the bottom of the page for that. You’re also invited to object to something you think should be improved. Please also send us an explanation of how you think that something you object to could be improved, don’t forget that part of the criticism. Still, if you don’t want to offer a constructive alternative, then no problem, just send your complaint, and we will see what we can do for you.
Mission Statement: Objectives
Our mission is to provide those who experience ghosts and haunts and other persons involved in, interested in, or related to paranormal events, with a free-to-use venue in which they can:
- Showcase their experiences in awesome and visually oriented ways
- Network with others of similar needs and interests
- Share social content
- Obtain any kind of support when going through hard times due to ghosts and haunts
- Dispense support when one’s experience has any kind of value for those suffering due to ghosts
- Form groups related to any kind of ghosts-related interests
- Advertise ghost-related products or services
Motivations
Also, it’s our mission to collaboratively foster an empowered collaboration, social networking, and idea-sharing information system, and lively community. For those who experience, published, work, or manufacture in the different niches of the ghosts and haunts industries.
We aim to achieve those things and to continue doing them indefinitely. And do it while maintaining the highest possible honesty, value, and excellence standards.
We strive to provide not just an application for reading and publishing ghost-related information. Or a social media facility to create social networks or to join one. The idea is to deliver a people-powered support system for those who are having a hard time with the disconcerting affliction that ghosts in our lives generally signify; for those who need answers and other things fast.
True Ghost Stories brings truthfulness as well as awesomeness to the crowd of tellers of ghost stories, ghost hunters, ghosts digital publishers, merchants of ghost-related products or services, seekers of proof of the existence of ghosts and those who experience ghosts and haunts, and anyone else interested in the subject of ghosts.
We do this by providing a website with free publishing and social networking capabilities. Free features and benefits for members and occasional users are the main focus after the main topics of both ghosts and their experiences.
We seek to help the members of the community with a free application (this website) that is geared towards social connections, networking, collaboration, content publishing, and experience-sharing.
Registration/Membership is free and will remain so. Moreover, all services provided are free to use, without any kind of subscription, edition, or publishing fees attached.
Your Suggestion Box
We aim at building this community collaboratively, because of that we decided to involve everyone in the community-shaping process.
Because of that, we are open to direct feedback, suggestions, and criticism (even if it is not constructive).
Just post your feedback in the suggestion box. If the idea is a good fit for the community’s mission, we will present it, anonymously, to the community.
If the community votes for rolling out the new feature that you suggested, then you can opt for staying anonymous or have your identity revealed as an outstanding contributor on the community’s Hall of Fame page.
Examples of subjects you may want to pitch in about:
- How to make this community more resourceful for work
- Would a community forum benefit this community?
- How to reward contributors
- New features to integrate into this community site
- How do we scale up the choice of resources for content creation on the site?
- What will be the community’s approach to its social media presence?
- How to make the community more resourceful for leisure
- Ideas to expand the community to new areas
- How to grow the community
- Other types of ideas … yours!

When we decide on the governance strategy of the community, I hope it will be a mixture of democracy/meritocracy.
Ideally, it will be a mixture of the two, until we figure out a way to automate as much as possible of the social debits-and-credits part of the meritocracy. For all the influence to be calculated automatically and doing away with votes casting, thus leaving the democracy phase behind for a more efficient system.
